Fairmont’s 4 Under40
Fairmont’s 4 Under 40 award honors members of the Fairmont/Martin County Community for their commitment and contributions both professionally and personally. Members of the greater Fairmont community are invited to submit nominations for the “4 Under 40” award and then nominees are sent an invitation to formally apply for the honor. After the application deadline closes, a selection committee of Fairmont community leaders review every submission.
How the Program Works:
Community members and leaders nominate individuals who will be over the age of 18 but under the age of 40.
Applications are then distributed to the Selection Committee members for evaluation. Following a meeting, announcements of the new class of honorees are made.
What does the program benefit?
Each year thousands of youth in our area are benefiting from the funds raised through various events and now including Fairmont’s 4 Under 40. It provides important revenue to maintain the programs that are developing tomorrow’s leaders through activities that bring fun, excitement, and time with friends while really learning self-reliance, team work, self-esteem and determination. Raised funds give over 2,000 youth in a fifteen county area the opportunity to participate in programs like Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, National Youth Leadership Training, Venturing, Exploring, and ScoutReach. Not only does this award raise funds for important program, but it also recognizes truly remarkable people serving our community.
Why should I nominate?
We know that communities are made stronger when they support and value their talented young professionals. The 4 Under 40 awards allows the Fairmont community to invest in this talent by recognizing the outstanding work of young professionals in our community. By nominating someone to receive a 4 under 40 award, you are providing valuable acknowledgement of their work, as well as encouragement to continue making a difference in our community.
Who should I nominate?
Think of influential young professionals you know that are working hard to make a difference in Fairmont and Martin County. They may be your friends, co-workers, neighbors, or fellow organization members. As you consider who to nominate, think of individuals who not only excel professionally, but have chosen to dedicate their time outside of work to efforts that improve their community. These individuals should serve as role models for future leaders and have demonstrated the ability to motivate and lead others.
What information do I need?
In addition to the basic contact information about the nominee, the nomination form asks you to state why you feel that particular individual deserves to be recognized as one of this year’s 4 Under 40. It is helpful to the selection committee if you can include as much detail as possible about what distinguishes your nominee from the others as your nomination statements can offer great insight into the nominee.
