The Greater Mankato Values Event honors those who live up to the Values found in the Scout Oath and Law in their daily and professional lives.  In 2025, we are looking for nominations for those under 40 years of age who do this through their chosen vocation and their various volunteer endeavors.  This volunteerism does not have to be in Scouting but simply adhere to the values of Scouting.

Scout Oath:
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law:
A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Who can I nominate?

The criteria to be nominated is very simple. An individual must live or work in the Greater Mankato Area and be under the age of 40 at the time of the event (March 2025). Anyone is eligible to nominate one or more people who fit the criteria.

What if I don’t know everything on the nomination form?

You may want to reach out to others that know the person you are nominating to help fill in the information you don’t know or help add to what you know. The selection committee would like to have as much information as possible to help make their decision.

What is expected of the individual I nominate if they are selected as an honoree?

Typically, the expectations include participating in a pre-event photo shoot, being interviewed by local and area media, providing a biography, and attending the event.

Who selects the honorees?

The selection of the honorees will be the Values Event Committee currently consisting of Pam DeMarce, Nick Maxwell, Jo Guck Bailly, Scott Danger, Steve Lawrence, and Jeremy Gaul.  If you would like to join our committee, please contact Ray Brauer at

Who does the program benefit?

The Twin Valley Council Boy Scouts of America.  The Twin Valley Council is headquartered in Mankato, Minnesota and serves Scouting in 15 counties in South Central Minnesota.  Scouting teaches the values found in the Scout Oath and Law in an outdoor education classroom.  It also teaches you leadership skills, teamwork, problem solving, communication, and much more.
