We will be following the CDC guidelines for masks at this event.  All persons should plan on wearing a mask while indoors at this event.

It’s time for the annual Great Penguin Race!  This year we are off to the Winter Olympics and our Penguins will be participating in all sorts of winter sports and games!  Who will e our golf medal penguins?

Each year all Cub Scouts are invited to the Great Penguin Race to be held at Norseland Scout Camp on Saturday, March 5, 2022.  Cubs should plan for a winter day outside in the snow. 

Each Scout must have an adult attend with them.  Everyone should dress in proper winter attire as most of our activities are outside.  This includes but is not limited to:  coat, snow pants, boots, mittens or gloves, hat and scarf.

Check-in at Norseland begins at 12:30pm.  Everyone on property must have a Class AB medical form to stay.  Some of the events include curling, Bobsledding Cub Scout style, Slalom Skiing, Penguin Luge, crafts, hot chocolate and more!

This event is a lot of fun for our Cubs, so be sure to register early.  Registration closes Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

God & Family Religious Award Classes

God & Family Religious Award

Open to all 4th and 5th Grade Scouts
$24 per Scout/Adult pair

Are you curious to know what God, your family and pizza have in common?  Or why is a pizza party part of the curriculum of the God & Family Award?  

Join Roger Bergquist and Jeff Adams on three Thursday nights in February (February 10, 17, and 24) at Hilltop United Methodist Church Mankato (108 south Manitou Drive) between 6-8pm and you will learn the answer to these mysterious questions.

Pastor Jeff will lead the group of Webelos/AOL’s through the God & Family series.  This is a protestant series, but any faith is welcome to attend.  At the end of the session, those who complete the series will receive their religious knot.  Remember, religious knots can be worn on the uniform through adulthood!

Cost to attend this event is $24 per Scout/Adult pair and each Scout must attend with an adult.

Registration is open until February 3, 2022 and class size is limited to 14 youth.

We will be following the CDC guideline regarding facemasks.  All persons at this event should plan to wear a facemask while indoors.

Join us for a morning of fellowship, training and ideas on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Mankato.  This Leader Resource Forum will feature a gathering time including a light breakfast, coffee and Council announcements.  Attendees will then have an opportunity to attend three 45 minute sessions of their choice on topics related to Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA.

OA Winter Conclave

January will be here before we know it, so it’s time to make plans to attend Winter Conclave 2022.

This fun filled weekend begins will check-in at Noon at Loyola High School.  There will be time for conversation, settling in and games before we head out to Pizza Ranch around 3-3:30pm.  As tradition dictates, we will cheer on our Mavericks at the hockey game before heading back to Loyola for an evening of activities.

Cost for this event is $30 per member; those with the Golden Ticket attend at no additional cost.

It’s one of the fastest growing events for Cub Scouts!  Norseland Nightmare ~ Where Your Dreams Come To Life!

Grab your Halloween costume and join us for an afternoon of Halloween Fun!  Saturday, October 30, 2021, is the date; 1-5pm is the time and Norseland Scout Camp is the place!

The afternoon will have Spooky Shooting Sports, Ghastly Games (insert spooky music here), A Haunted Hike – if you dare, Creepy Crafts, Terrifying Treats and more!

We encourage all Scouts to wear their Halloween costumes!  This is a great afternoon of fun!  

All Scouts must be accompanied by an adult for this event, one adult per family.  Scouts who participate in the Spooky Shooting Sports must have a signed Parent Consent Form.  Please note that Lion Cubs will be at the BB Gun range using Nerf Guns due to BSA policy.

OA Section Conclave “Settlers of Watertown”

Join other OA members for a weekend of brotherhood, fellowship and fun.  Friday October 1 – Sunday October 3rd in Watertown, South Dakota!

This is shaping up to be an amazing weekend.  Celebrate the “Settlers of Watertown” through field games such as Ultimate Frisbee or Hacky Sack.  Or maybe the Board Game contest will more to your liking.

Join the epic search for the lost medallion of Watertown.  And let’s not forget the talent competition.  Any of these events are sure to entertain the group!

On top of all this there is the Brotherhood Bash, COC, a 5K run, election of officers, and of course the shows!

Early bird registration is open until September 24, 2021.  Early Bird cost is $55.  After September 24, cost will be $65.

Cub Scout Shooting Sports Event

To a young Cub Scout, one of the “Best Things Ever” is shooting a BB Gun, Arrows at a target, or learning to use a Sling Shot.

Join us Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 9am-Noon as we set up the target and teach our Cub Scouts all about BB Guns, Archery and Sling Shots.  The event will be held at the Cedar Point Scout Camp located just south of Fairmont.  Cost to attend this morning event is $15 per Scout.  Adults attend at no cost. 

All Cub Scouts are encouraged to invite a friend in grade K-5.  Each friend will also need to bring their parent.

BB Guns – In our BB Gun rotation Cubs will learn

  • Proper BB Gun safety
  • Demonstrate their skill at target shooting
  • We will work with them learning proper shooting techniques
  • Cub Scouts will work towards improving their skill
  • Please note Lion Cubs will practice their skills using Nerf Guns due to BSA policy

Archery – The Archery rotation will offer

  • Proper Archery safety rules and whistle commands
  • Learning how to apply arm guards, finger tables and quivers
  • Demonstrate how to effectively shoot an arrow including how to stand, nock an arrow, griping the bow, and the aim and release of arrow

Sling Shot – Slings Shot use is new to most Cub Scouts. 

  • This rotations Teaches proper shooting techniques including sight alignment, breathing and follow through
  • Demonstrating the proper way to shoot a sling shot
  • Learn about different types of ammunitions’ and targets for sling shot use

All Scouts must have a signed Parent consent form in order to shoot.
