Level Up Challenge
Monday, March 1 – Monday, May 31, 2021

What does the plan in your unit look like for spring and summer?  To encourage units to have a stellar spring and summer program, units are encouraged to “Level Up” their game this spring.  Here are the ways each unit can earn points.  The more things you do, the more points you can earn.  This promotion runs March 1 – May 31, 2021.  Winners will be announced on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Cub Scout Packs can earn points by

  • Having a public Facebook page (groups are ok, but do not count for points) – 2 points
  • Holding a Derby Race (Pinewood Cars, Space or Raingutter Regatta) (virtual or in person) – 1 point
  • Having 60% of Cub Scouts in your pack advance 1 rank (September 2020-May 31, 2021) – 3 points
  • Holding a Cub Scout Camp Presentation at a Pack/Den meeting (virtual or in person) – 2 points
  • Scheduling and holding a Spring School Night for Scouting – 3 points
  • Participating in Scouting for Food – 2 points
  • Having at least 1 Scout participate in the Spring Flower Sale – 1 point
  • Having at least 1 Scout participate in the Spring Shooting Sports Event – 1 point
  • Having at least 1 adult participate in the Camping Training (Baloo) – 2 point
  • Having a planned summertime program, this could include TVC camps (June – August) – 3 points

Scouts BSA Troops earn point by

  • Having a public Facebook page (groups are ok, but do not count for points) – 2 points
  • Having 50% of Scouts BSA in your troop advance at least 1 rank (September 2020-May 31, 2021) – 3 point
  • Scheduling and hold a Troop Open House to invite new non-Scouts to participate – 3 points
  • Having at least 1 Scout participate in the Flower Sale – 1 point
  • Participating in Scouting for Food – 2 points
  • Holding a Troop Court of Honor (virtual or in person) – 3 points
  • Holding a Scouts BSA Summer Camp Promotion at a Troop meeting – 2 points
  • Holding a Troop Campout (March – May) 2 points
  • Participating in the Spring Camp-o-ree “The Campalorian” – 1 point
  • Scheduling at least one summertime outdoor activity outside of summer camp (June-August) – 1 point

As units accomplish one of the items, they may email Liz Paul at elizabeth.paul@scouting.org or provide the details at their monthly neighborhood meeting.  Updates will be provided at each neighborhood meeting on how each unit doing.  Each unit will also be provided a game board to track things within their unti.

So what are the points for?

The Pack AND Troop with the most points wins the prize.  If there is a tie, the winner will be drawn from a hat.

Cub Scouts Pack Prize – FREE Shooting Sports Day for your entire Pack that will occur in or near your community.  This will include BB Gun, Archery and Sling Shot.  The event will happen in 2021 on a date and time worked out with the winning unit.

Scout BSA Troop Prize – FREE campsite at either Norseland or Cedar Point.  The campsite is for use in 2021.
