Youth Protection Training

Protecting children from abuse and neglect is of primary concern to the Boy Scouts of America.  As a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts of America, it is essential that you receive training in the area of youth protection.  The overall safety of our youth must be the concern of all youth serving organizations.  The Boy Scouts of America has been recognized for providing leadership in this most important area of safety over the past several years.

A youth protection training course, "Youth Protection Guidelines for Adult Leaders and Parents" is available.  The training can be accessed by clicking on the link below.  This training makes youth protection training and resources easily accessible to all leaders.

In addition, Youth Protection training is available specifically for the Venturing program. This version is designed to address topics that are largely unique to Venturing, such as coed crews and the proximate ages of youth and adult members.  The training can be accessed by clicking on the link below.  This training makes youth protection training and resources easily accessible to all leaders.

There are four sections to the training:

  1. Recognize Abuse

  2. Protection Policies related to youth protection

  3. Responding to disclosure of abuse; and

  4. Reporting requirements.

Starting January 2003, it is now required that at least one youth protection trained leader be provided for every activity which requires a tour permit.  This on-line training will help your unit complete this training in the most efficient method.
