2010 Centennial National Scout Jamboree

The 17th National Scout Jamboree will take place at Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia, from July 21 to August 5, 2010. The event will help commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. The Twin Valley Council will take a Council Contingent of one troop with 36 youth and 4 adult leaders.

To submit an application for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, go to www.MyScouting.org and log in (see note below.) After logging in, go to “Event Reservations” then “Jamboree.” Then choose the Youth Participant Application link. When submitting the application, there will be a $10 nonrefundable processing fee payable by credit card. This is not part of the jamboree fee if you are selected to attend the jamboree.

(Note: To log in to myscouting.org, you must have a myscouting.org account. Only adults can have a myscouting.org account. Parents can register for an account without a BSA ID number. Adult leaders should register with their BSA ID number off their membership card.)

The jamboree fee covers shelter, food, insurance, equipment, program material, transportation, tours, and prejamboree training. The total fee is to attend with the Twin Valley Council contingent is $1,995.00. There is a $10 nonrefundable processing fee due at submission of the application. Print your confirmation, get your Scoutmaster signature of approval, and return the confirmation along with your $100 deposit to the Twin Valley Council office. Once your application and deposit are received you will be provided with your payment schedule.

In order to attend as a youth, a Scout must:

  • Be at least First Class rank by the time of Jamboree attendance
  • Have completed sixth grade or be at least 12 years old by July 21, 2010, and not reached his 18th birthday by August 5, 2010
  • Participate in pre‐Jamboree training
  • Submit a completed Jamboree medical form
  • Be approved by his Scoutmaster and the Twin Valley Jamboree Committee
