Charles Bernard McMahon was born Dec. 27, 1962, in Marshall to Bernard and Delphine (Tholkes) McMahon. Although he moved with his family to St. Louis Park at a young age, he was always a farm boy at heart. He graduated from Park High School in St. Louis Park. While still in high school he began working at Camp Cuyuna as a staff cook. His love of the camp and the outdoors led him to move to Crosslake, where he was employed by the Boy Scouts of America, Twin Valley Council. He had worked at Camp Cuyuna for 18 years, serving as Camp Ranger for the past eight years. He was united in marriage to Andrea Besnett, the mother of his children, in Mankato on April 4, 1986. The couple later divorced. He enjoyed dog sledding, and was recently featured on a PBS television segment. He was a loving, outgoing man who was always kind and non-judgmental. He loved his work with children. He and his fiancee, Melissa Hagelie, had planned to marry on Aug. 13, 2005.
Chuck is loved and deeply missed by his parents, Bernard and Delphine McMahon, St. Louis Park; his fiancee, Melissa Hagelie, Crosslake; his children, Zachary, age 16, and Alyxandra, age 15, both at home with their mother in Breezy Point; his sisters, Connie (Ed) Bloom, Hibbing, Carol (Neil) Hoffmann, New Ulm, Dorothy (Ed) Lammers, Longville, Donna (Dennis) Berg, Courtland, Janet (Tom) Mahaffey, Coon Rapids, Mary (Ron) Schneider, Winona, and Theresa (John) Crelly, Golden Valley; his former wife, Andrea Besnett; 31 nieces and nephews; 20 sled dogs, and "Peepers," his Shih-tzu-poo. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake. |
