Camp Norseland Unit Projects
(February 21, 2008)
We need your help! There are a variety of projects at Camp Norseland that are very much in need of volunteer labor to complete. If your troop can “adopt” one or more of these projects, it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help, please call Mike Baker at home, (507)387-7793 or on his cell, (507)389-6735 to make arrangements. Projects include:
- Build the playground structure
- Install hand rails and steps to the deck on the Quonset
- Add fences or posts around septic tanks and vents
- Paint Quonset exterior
- Quonset interior finish and cabinetry work - kitchen
- Landscaping and grass seeding of septic areas
- Campsite improvements - fire rings, benches, flag poles
- Modify latrines to allow separate adult/youth sections
- Stain or treat latrine exteriors
- Replace damaged sidewalks on the north side of the Lodge

Process for making Norseland Scout Camp reservations.
- All reservations must be made by phone or in person with the Twin Valley Council office.

- Once the office has been contacted, units will have 10 days to return the “Application For Use” form and payment. After 10 days the reservation will be removed from the calendar. Units will be notified if this occurs.
- Reservations are not complete until units receive a written confirmation from the Council office.
The written confirmation will be sent to the Adult Leader listed on the “Application For Use” form.
- After the reservation is confirmed, it will then be listed on the Council website, but not before!.
Norseland Scout Camp Reservation Calendar
The reservation calendar is for informative purposes only. What is listed on the website calendar is not a complete listing of dates reserved.
Out of Council units can only make reservations 60 days prior to their requested dates.
Reservations are not complete until you receive a confirmation from the Council office and the reservation is listed on this web site. All reservations are first-come, first-serve upon completed reservation forms and fee payment.

Attention Scout Leaders!
Norseland Scout Camp now has an Orienteering Games Course! The course has six different games which vary in levels of difficulty. There are games available for your beginning compass users as well as for those who would like to challenge their skills.
The course is located in the Meadow clearing. The starting point is found near the storm shelter tubes. You will find a post with the letter "S" which marks the beginning of all six courses. The ending points for each course are posts located on the opposite edge of the Meadow from the starting post. These posts each have a different rank symbol. Each game will wind the participant around the Meadow and end at one of these posts.
Copies of the directions for completing the orienteering games course can be found in a binder kept in the Main Lodge. The original of this binder is on file at the Twin Valley Council Center for Scouting in Mankato. The course can also be downloaded and printed by right clicking on the links below and selecting "Save Target As".

The course was made by the scouts of Troop 141 Amboy-Good Thunder (Scoutmaster John Burman and Assistant Scoutmaster John Maass). Star scout, Thomas B, created the course to fulfill Life scout rank requirements by conducting a leadership project that benefits scouting.
Additional games can be added at any time by any scout who would like to contribute to the orienteering course. Please put copies in the binder and submit the originals to the Center for Scouting and to the Twin Valley Council webmaster for placement here. If you have any questions, contact the Center for Scouting or the leaders of Troop 141.
