Erik began his Scouting career in the Overland Trails Council as a District Executive for the Overland Trails Council in 2003 in the Covered Wagon District. In 2006 he was promoted to Senior District Executive. In 2015 was promoted to District Director for the Jayhawk Area Council in Topeka, KS serving the Shawnee District. In 2018 he begin working for the Twin Valley Council in the Cedar Valley District as a District Director.

Erik is an Eagle Scout, a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and is Wood Badge Trained (Bob White).

Outside of Scouting attends St. John Vianney Catholic Church and is a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #1574 and is very active to Rotary International.

He was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska, but grew up in Kearney, Nebraska and has lived in Nebraska all of his life before moving to Kansas and now Minnesota. He is a big Nebraska Husker fan, loves hockey, especially his hometown Tri-City Storm. He loves to cook, especially for other people, watch movies, and enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Carly.

Erik has two nephews, Jacoby Olson, Macon Van Amburg, and a niece Rainna Van Amburg. His parents are Tom and LaDonna Karre.
