Biography

I have been involved with Twin Valley Council for over 40 years as a scout, adult leader, volunteer, summer camp staff member, and program partner.  Originally from Fairmont, Minnesota, I am an Eagle Scout from Troop 159, receiving that honor in 1982.  Harlan Logemann was my Scoutmaster and mentor through my early scouting years.

While attending Bemidji State University from 1983-90, I worked at Camp Cuyuna; first as Nature Center Director (1985-86), then as Program Director (1987- 89).  I was one of the founding members of the Camp Cuyuna Alumi Association (CCAA), serving as its first president.

In December 2000, I took over the Overnight Camp-In Program at the Science Museum of Minnesota.  The following season, a small group from Twin Valley Council attended one of the museum's first ever Boy Scout Camp-Ins.  That next season the, TVC's "Sleeping with the Dinos" Camp-In Program was created.  Over the next 15 years, over 8,000 campers from TVC slept under the watchful eyes of the museum's dinosaurs!

After almost 17 years at the Science Museum of Minnesota, I decided to leave the museum to become the new Director of Metro Sites for the Minnesota Historical Society.  This new department is responsible for the Society's seven Twin Cities historical sites: The History Center, MN Capitol, Ramsey House, James J. Hill House, Mill City Museum, Oliver Kelley Farm, and Historic Fort Snelling.  My new team and I are excited to continue the wonderful relationship with the Twin Valley Council!
