Wood Badge: An Experience Benefiting All Leaders

Northern Star Council

September 15-17, 2017 and
October 13-15, 2017

Stearns Scout Camp

Wood Badge is premier training for adult leaders in all Scouting programs.  The six day experience of team development and leadership provides tools for leaders to use in their professional, personal, and volunteer lives.  Training is done through classroom instruction, but is primarily activity-based.  Activities include patrol and troop games, problem-solving challenges, and lots of fun!

The course provides opportunities for participants to "walk a mile in a Scout's shoes" by following a typical path from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting and Venturing.  Participants utilize the patrol method in small group learning, cooking, camping, and working together.  Other benefits of attends of attending include:  renewed enthusiasm, strengthened knowledge of Scouting, generation of new ideas, and new friendships throughout the council.

Participants will create and work a "ticket" as part of the Wood Badge program.  This provides the opportunity to practice service to self and to others.  Tickets are developed with the support of the course staff and are to be complete within 198 months.  Recognition for this accomplishment includes the Wood Badge neckerchief, woggle and beads.
