North Star District mourns the loss of Brian Manning. Brian was a dedicated Scouter, outdoorsman and educator.

Memorial Service for Brian B. Manning, 61, of Fairmont, MN, will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont with inurnment in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 8, at the Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the Lakeview Funeral Home on Tuesday. Brian passed away on Thursday evening, April 4, 2013, at his home in Fairmont

Brian Bruns Manning was born on December 21, 1951, in Fairmont, MN, son of Robert B. and Eileen (Thieman) Manning. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1970. He attended the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus, for three years, graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree, with emphasis on forestry. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Idaho for several summers and also on a fire watch tower there for several years. When he returned to Fairmont, he attended Jackson Vocational Technical in carpentry. He worked for the Fairmont Sentinel in the circulation department, for Tech Builders, and for Ken Weber Construction. In 1981, he founded Manning Construction, along with his brother, David, and sister, Valerie, as partners. In 1995, while still owning Manning Construction, he began Pinehaven Home Inspection. After the partnership retired Manning Construction in 2009, he continued to work with the home inspection business. He was a Boy Scout leader and was awarded a Silver Beaver for his work with the Scouts, which he continued until his death. He also taught Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Classes for 19 years.

Survivors include his sister, Valerie Manning of Fairmont, MN; brother, David Manning of Fairmont, MN; uncle, Dale Manning and his wife, Clarice, of Fort Collins, CO; cousins, Nan Milbrandt of Fairmont, MN, Vickie Krug and her husband, Bill, and Kay Wood, all of Fort Collins, CO; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eileen Manning; grandparents, Gustav and Lydia Thieman, and George and Minnie Manning.
