Scout Executive Paul Wilkinson's Response to Policy Change Related to Gay Youth in Scouting.

The Twin Valley Council’s focus remains to deliver the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and value-based leadership training to as many youth as is possible.  Sexuality has never been a part of the Scouting program. Scouting does not ask the youth or adult volunteers about their sexuality when they join the program.  Twin Valley Council does not allow any type of sexual behavior, whether verbal or physical, to exist within the Scouting program. This includes heterosexuals and homosexuals.  This will continue into the future.  While people have different opinions about this policy, we can agree that kids are better off when they are in Scouting.  We believe that good people can disagree and still work together to accomplish great things for youth.  Going forward, we will work to stay focused on that which unites us. As I have heard our volunteer board and other volunteers say many times, “It is all about the youth that we serve”.

Yours in Scouting,
Paul A. Wilkinson
