Bunks To Be Removed From Norseland

Notice To All Who Use Norseland Scout Camp

At our August 16th,  Board Meeting, the Executive Board of the Twin Valley Council approved the following item that you as unit leadership need to be aware of.

The bunk beds at Camp Norseland will be removed this fall and not be available for use by units reserving either the Fireside Lodge or Igloo Lodge (Quonset).  The purpose of this decision was based on the health and safety of our campers.  Specifically, the following issues were of concern:  1.  The upper bunks do not have guard rails on them to prevent Scouts from falling out of bed and onto the concrete floor.  2.  Not having the ability to regularly sanitize the matrasses and to protect against germs, lice, and bedbugs.  As a result, units wishing to rent the buildings will need to make arrangements to bring their own cots, air matrasses, or pads to sleep on.

Any questions or concerns please contact Scout Executive Ray Brauer at [Click for member's page] or 507-387-3123.

Yours in Scouting,
Tim Adams, Council President
Gary Lager, Council Commissioner
Kevin Cole, Vice President of Properties
