Wilderness/Remote First Aid Training course will be offered in April 2108 at Norseland Scout Camp.

This course is designed to help you "Be Prepared" for your next High Adventure Trip.  Wilderness/Remote First Aid is a 16 hour course that is divided into 4 sections; all to be completed in this weekend training event.

The first course is the CPR/AED training held Friday evening.  The 4 hour session is part of the 16 hours of required training.  Participants must attend to complete Wilderness First Aid; even those with current CPR/AED certification.

The next three sessions include topics such as

  • Identify how to respond to emergency situations in delayed emergency help situations
  • Identify causes of injuries and how injuries can be prevented in wilderness areas
  • Learn proper advance preparation for journeys into backcountry
  • Learn the Emergency Action Steps for First Aid Response to be employed when EMS in not readily available
  • Learn basic and more advanced first aid techniques to use when an injury occurs
  • Learn how to respond to an emotionally upset victim
  • Learn short distance transfer and evacuation techniques
  • Experience providing wilderness first aid through scenarios and simulated rescues

The Wilderness First Aid Training begins Friday evening at 6 p.m.  Please eat before you arrive.   You are welcome to camp at Norseland for no additional cost.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on Saturday.  Please bring your own snacks and additional beverages. Sunday morning breakfast is provided and the course resumes at 8 a.m. You will be on your way home by noon on Sunday.

 

Details

Participants must be 15 years or older.

There needs to be a minimum of ten participants to hold this course.

Maximum number of participants for this course is 16.

Camping spots are first come first served. Please be advised, there will be Cub Camp at Norseland this same weekend.

Participants are responsible for their own personal and camping gear.
