Twin Valley Council To Help Holiday Lights

TWIN VALLEY COUNCIL TO SUPPORT

KIWANIS HOLIDAY LIGHT

"Be Part of the Tradition"

Twin Valley Council is proud to offer our support to a growing holiday tradition "The Kiwanis Holiday Lights".

Located in Sibley Park in Mankato, this event build on past traditions and promotes the communities we serve.  You need not live in Mankato to participate in the seasonal attraction.

Admission to the Holiday Lights is free for all vehicles and walkers.  This is made possible by the generosity of the many volunteer groups.

There are many volunteer opportunities for individuals (must be 16 or older) and families.

Park Set Up

Maybe you favorite part of the holiday is the decorating.  Checking the lights to be sure they work or strategically placing your lawn elves or candy canes.  If this is true, the Sunday, November 12th is for you.  Join the group of volunteers at Sibley Park between the hours of 1-4 p.m. to help string lights and place candy canes!  It's easy work and the fellowship is wonderful.  Boy Scouts, remember helping at during this times does count towards service hours.  Twin Valley Council needs to have 5 volunteers for Park Set Up.  Click the Park Set Up orange button to the right to sign up.

Parade Float

Enjoy parades?  Enjoy a challenge of creating a fully illuminated float?  This task is for you.  We are looking for one Scout unit to take on the task a building and float for the annual Holiday Lights Parade which happens the day after Thanksgiving, November 24, 2017.  There are specific details the float must include so please contact Mark Roemhildt directly; 507-387-3124 ext. 27.

Boy Scout Holiday Tree

Is your favorite part of the holiday season your Christmas tree?  Have you ever had someone stare in awe at a tree you've decorated?  Then we need your help at decorating the Boy Scout Christmas Tree.  Put on your thinking cap and select a theme then have fun decorating.  What a great Pack or Troop community service project!  Again all hours for this will count toward service hours.  The tree needs to be decorated sometime between November 18 - November 23.   If individuals do this project we would need 5 volunteers.  If a unit would like to decorate the tree please contact Mark Roemhildt directly at 507-387-3124 ext. 27.

Twin Valley Council Night of Staffing

The Holiday Lights experience is made possible by the many volunteers who work to staff the park each night.  Our night is Saturday, December 30, 2017.  We need to have 8 volunteers there beginning at 5 p.m. and you'll work until the last car has gone through which is around 10 p.m.  Your volunteer time could be anything from staffing the concession stand to directing traffic to collecting food donations.  Dress warm and Be Prepared for a night of fun.  Be part of the tradition!  Sign up by clicking the orange button to the right.

Event Pack Up and Put Away

A place for everything and everything in it's place.  Is this you?  Then we need you.  Please join us as we take down the lights, hang up those lawn decorations and turn the park back into it's own.  Scouts "Leave No Trace" so this task should be something we are familiar with.  Pack up begins January 1, 2018 and continues through January 7th.  Sign up today by clicking the orange button to the right as we are looking for about 5 volunteers
