Popcorn Kickoff - It's Time To Start Poppin' With Planning!

                                             9 a.m. - Noon

The popcorn committee has been hard at work since last fall's sale.   Lots of changes happening for Popcorn 2018 and you won't want to miss out on any of the information!

The biggest change you will see for Popcorn 2018 is the change to a new popcorn company;  Trails-end Popcorn.  Trails-end is offering a top-notch "Champion Program" that will reward top sellers and encourage youth to sell more popcorn. 



We hope you join us on Saturday, August 25, 2018, in the  Mankato West High School auditorium/cafeteria (1351 South Riverfront Drive) from 9 a.m. - Noon for our Popcorn Kickoff.  This event is so much more than a simple training session.  It's a time to meet other Scouters, listen to ideas, enjoy a casual breakfast and learn how you can be a part of making your unit's Popcorn 2018 a success!

Some of the event highlights will include

  • Fleece Vests for Popcorn Kernels (one per unit) if registered by July 15, 2018
  • Fleece Vest for every Super Selling Scout of 2017 (Scout who has sales of over $1,500) if registered by July 15, 2018

Our morning begins in the auditorium of Mankato West at 9 a.m.  We will gather to learn about Popcorn 2018.  After the presentation, Troops/Crews will be released to visit the booths in the cafeteria while the Packs stay in the auditorium to learn about School Night kickoff.  Once the Packs have completed School Night kickoff they will move the cafeteria to visit the booths.  This will help with some of the cafeteria congestion of past popcorn kickoffs.

As a special thank you for attending the Popcorn Kickoff and for volunteering to be your unit's Popcorn Kernel, Popcorn Kernels will receive a fleece vest (one vest per unit).  These will be handed out at the event.  Be sure to indicate your size during the on line registration process.  To receive fleece vest you must register for the event by July 15, 2018.

We are asking every unit to have representation at this event. 

Your Popcorn Kernel (or unit leader) and at least one youth will need to attend if you wish to move up on the Commission Climb.

However, we have room for everyone!  Please encourage all of your families to attend the Popcorn Kickoff.  It will make your Popcorn Kernel's job so much easier!

We are also asking all our Top Sellers from 2017 to join us for this event.  Any Scout who had popcorn sales of more than $1,500 in 2017 is invited to attend this event.  We will be presenting each of these "Super Sellers" with a fleece vest and asking them to become a vital part of the popcorn training in their unit.  Please indicated during registration the size needed for your fleece vest.  To receive the fleece vest, you must register for the event by July 15, 2018.

There is no charge to attend this training but you must register.
