EXPO 2016

SEPTEMBER 23 - 25, 2016
in BLUE EARTH, MN at the fairgrounds
$30 per person
Registration closes Monday, September 19th

This event has so much happening it's hard to even begin to list it all!  Expo 2016 is an event that happens every four years!  It's BIG, It's FUN, It's HAND-ON!

This year's theme is "Salute To Our Heroes In Uniform" and will feature interaction with Law Enforcement, EMT's, Fire Stations, and the Military - all our heroes in uniform!  Experience the climbing wall, get up close to a helicopter, explore the world of EMT's, Fire and Rescue and honor those who sacrificed all by visiting the Thin Blue Line Memorial Car.

This is just a start of all you'll experience at EXPO 2016!

Held at the fairgrounds in Blue Earth, MN, this event is perfect for camping.  All camping supplies and food are the responsibility of the units.

Boy Scout Troop and Venturing Crews are encouraged to arrive Friday evening after 5 pm and spend two nights camping.

Cub Scout Packs are encouraged to arrive Saturday morning, spend the day at the exhibits and camp Saturday night.

Health Forms

All persons attending Expo will need to complete parts A and B of the standard BSA health form.  This health form must be submitted at check-in.  Health forms are for adults and youth.  Health forms can be found in the "forms" section below.

WHAT were you THINKING?!  A course on the teenage brain!

"WHAT were you THINKING?"  or "Why Scouting Is Good For The Brain"?  Sounds like a fun a course every adult should be part of!

Think of the number of times that you as a parent or Scout leader are totally astonished by a decision a Scout has made.  Or the times you have wondered where their head is at.

This hour long course seeks to provide parents and leaders a developmental perspective of what is going on between the ears so that guidance, direction and instruction-giving does not end up in frustration and anger - by both sides.  We discuss the changes occurring in the adolescent brain and how it impacts decision making, emotional response, and perception.  Having a better understanding of how Scouts think increases leader effectiveness in the unit.  And we talk about why Scouting is great for the brain!

This presentation will be at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.  The presentation is about an hour and there will be time for question and answer following.

Chuck Jorenby is a registered Scout Leader and has served as a volunteer in multiple capacities for over 10 years.  He is also a licensed psychologist in private practice.
