Here's What's Happening In Twin Valley Council

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  I would also like to thank you for all the time and dedication you have given to Scouting.  It’s hard to believe, but December 1st  marked my 1st Anniversary working for the Twin Valley Council.  It has been an honor to have the opportunity to work for this great Scouting council.

Looking forward to 2017, some exciting things are happening. Watch our council Facebook page and website for more details, but here are just a few of the things to look forward to:

New Cub Scout Camping Programs:  The 2017 them is CSI:  Cub Scout Investigators!  You will also see an entirely revamped program that includes a Cub Scout Resident Camp at both Cedar Point and Norseland, a Twilight Day Camp in Mankato, a family camp at Cuyuna, and the return of Northwoods Webelos Camp at Cuyuna.  CLICK HERE to see more details and pricing on our Council website.

Camp Cuyuna:  Leaders guides will be out shortly, but we will be adding an older boy trek program, stand up paddle boarding, STEM programs, and new merit badges like Home Repair, Reptile Study, and Archeology.  We also will have 3 new Stand Up Paddle Boards at the water front next summer.

Ice Fishing Tournament at all 3 camps:  Do you enjoy Ice Fishing?  All winter long (December 17-March 17) we will be hosting an Ice Fishing Tournament at all 3 of our camps:  Cuyuna, Cedar Point, and Norseland.  Cost is $20 to enter and you earn points for each inch of fish caught.  Top for points will earn gift cards ranging in value from $100 to $25.  Open to fist 149 participants.  Rent a building at camp and receive a free entry.  CLICK HERE for more information.

Sporting Clay Tournament:  Twin Valley Council will be hosting a Sporting Clay Tournament on July 22, 2017 at the Caribou Gun Club.  Proceeds will go to support the council camping and program support operations of the Twin Valley Council.  We are excited to announce that all 7 top sponsorship levels have been filled.  Title Sponsor: ProGrowth Bank, Dinner SponsorAbdo, Eick, and Meyers, Shooting Vest SponsorJavens Mechanical Contractors Co., Lunch SponsorUS Bank, Ammo SponsorAll American Foods, Drink SponsorSandquist Law Offices, and Marketing SponsorLime Valley Advertising.  Teams are $1,000 for 4 shooters that include a 100 round tournament, 12 gauge ammo, lunch, dinner, shooting vest, and drinks after the shoot.  For more information CLICK HERE

Trash Bag Sales:  Popcorn does a great job of helping units fund their annual program year, but for many units it does not help pay for youth to attend camp.  To help with this, the Twin Valley Council will be offering a Trash Bag Sale in April to help youth pay their own way to camp.  Units earn 35% commission and an additional 35% will be used to support the council camps.  CLICK HERE for more information.
