Norseland Orienteering Course

Attention Scout Leaders!

Norseland Scout Camp has an Orienteering Games Course! The course has six different games which vary in levels of difficulty. There are games available for your beginning compass users as well as for those who would like to challenge their skills.

The course is located in the Meadow clearing. The starting point is found near the storm shelter tubes. You will find a post with the letter "S" which marks the beginning of all six courses. The ending points for each course are posts located on the opposite edge of the Meadow from the starting post. These posts each have a different rank symbol. Each game will wind the participant around the Meadow and end at one of these posts.

Copies of the directions for completing the orienteering games course can be found in a binder kept in the Main Lodge. The original of this binder is on file at the Twin Valley Council Center for Scouting in Mankato. The course can also be downloaded and printed by right clicking on the links below and selecting "Save Target As".

The course was made by the scouts of Troop 141 Amboy-Good Thunder (Scoutmaster John Burman and Assistant Scoutmaster John Maass). Star scout, Thomas B, created the course to fulfill Life scout rank requirements by conducting a leadership project that benefits scouting.

Additional games can be added at any time by any scout who would like to contribute to the orienteering course. Please put copies in the binder and submit the originals to the Center for Scouting and to the Twin Valley Council webmaster for placement here. If you have any questions, contact the Center for Scouting or the leaders of Troop 141.
